On the Wings of a Butterfly

On the Wings of a Butterfly, known in Korean as 소리없이 나빌레라, is scheduled for release on June 24, 2026. The film centers on Go Ara, a deaf dancer who relies on hearing aids that provide only a partial experience of sound. The spoken word remains largely inaccessible to her, and the music that underlies her dancing feels persistently out of reach.

The narrative turns on Go Ara's transition into motherhood. Carrying memories of being taunted during music class as a child, she has not sung in two decades. The birth of her child prompts her, for the first time in twenty years, to sing a lullaby. That act sets her on a path toward constructing a relationship with sound and music that is shaped by her own experience rather than conventional hearing.
