Angels of War

Angels of War, known in Russian as Ангелы Ладоги, is scheduled for theatrical release on April 23, 2026. The film is set in November 1941, at the onset of the Siege of Leningrad, when German forces had closed the blockade ring around the city. Lake Ladoga — the only route connecting the besieged city to the rest of the Soviet Union — had not yet formed stable ice, making any crossing extremely dangerous.

The story centers on a group of young iceboat athletes sent across the fragile early-winter ice to deliver ammunition. Their mission shifts when they discover an orphanage whose residents were not evacuated before the blockade sealed. Former competitors in regatta sport are forced to operate as a cohesive unit in order to complete the rescue and survive the crossing.

The film draws on the historical context of the Road of Life, the supply corridor across Lake Ladoga that became critical to Leningrad's survival during the 872-day siege.
