Heroes of Unknown Wars

Heroes of Unknown Wars (Герои неизвестных войн) is a Russian-language documentary series that premiered on 7 May 2025. The series examines the largely undocumented involvement of Soviet military specialists, diplomats, and intelligence officers who were deployed to conflict zones during the Cold War to support allied nations against what the Soviet leadership characterised as aggression. Countries covered include North Korea, Vietnam, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Lebanon, with additional context provided around the Caribbean Crisis and its role in the broader balance of global power. The project is grounded in the recorded testimonies and memoirs of veterans who participated in these engagements, offering first-person perspectives on operations that remained outside public knowledge for decades.
