About this release
Evil Spirits (Злі духи) premiered on April 24, 2025. The Ukrainian-language series is set in Yaseni, a village in the Carpathian region, where a sequence of brutal murders prompts an unlikely investigative partnership between Markiyan Sych, a Kyiv detective recovering from a combat injury, and Ivan Basyuk, a young local policeman.
The investigation unfolds against a backdrop of village folklore: local residents attribute the killings to evil spirits and to Mara, a creature drawn from ancient legend. As Sych and Basyuk dig deeper, the case surfaces the village's concealed history — hidden fears, old secrets, and long-buried events that connect in ways neither investigator anticipated. The central question the series poses is whether the violence has a human origin or something else entirely.
The series is produced in Ukrainian and falls within the mystery and drama genres.
