Pinocchio: Unstrung

There is something almost inevitable about a horror reimagining of Pinocchio. The source material — Carlo Collodi's 1883 serial about a wooden puppet desperate to become flesh — has always carried an undercurrent of violence and dread that family adaptations have carefully sanded down. The puppet loses his feet to fire. Children are turned into donkeys and sold. The Cricket, that famous voice of conscience, is killed with a mallet early in the original text. So when Jagged Edge Productions releases *Pinocchio: Unstrung* on July 22, 2026, it will arrive not as a perversion of a sweet story but as something closer to a restoration of the darkness that was always there.
