Forsaken

Forsaken, known in French as L'abandon, is scheduled for release on May 13, 2026. The film centers on Samuel Paty, a history and geography teacher whose murder outside his school on October 16, 2020, drew international attention and became a focal point in broader debates about education, free expression, and public safety in France.

Rather than offering a broad biographical portrait, the film narrows its focus to Paty's final eleven days. Drawing on material from subsequent investigations and trials, it traces the chain of events and decisions that preceded his death. The French-language production reconstructs that period through the lens of documented legal proceedings, grounding its account in the public record established after the killing.
