Дети наши

Дети наши is a Russian-language documentary scheduled for release on July 9, 2026. The film examines the circumstances of the roughly 48,000 children who enter Russian orphanages each year — some of whom are eventually adopted, while others remain in institutional care until they reach adulthood and must navigate independent life without family guidance.

The documentary addresses a specific set of questions facing care-leavers: how to manage daily tasks, find employment, build savings, and form relationships when those skills were never modeled by a parent or guardian. The film draws on testimony from psychologists, foundation leaders, and individuals with direct experience of the orphanage system, presenting the problem of orphanhood in Russia from the perspective of those currently working to address it.
