The Thrifty Angel, known in Chinese as 小气鬼, is set for theatrical release on June 27, 2026. The film centers on Wei Yi, a 38-year-old suona player employed by the Sichuan Folk Orchestra, who is characterized by his extreme frugality. When circumstances compel him to take in A Yu, his neighbor's 6-year-old son, the two form an unlikely bond that gradually changes Wei Yi's outlook.
