Memento

Memento, a mystery-thriller produced by Newmarket Films, Summit Entertainment, and Team Todd, opens in wide release on October 11, 2000. The film centers on Leonard Shelby, a man attempting to locate the person who raped and murdered his wife — a search made almost impossibly difficult by the fact that Leonard suffers from a rare, untreatable form of short-term memory loss. He retains full recall of his life before the incident that caused his condition, but anything that occurs in the present dissolves within roughly fifteen minutes. He cannot hold onto where he is going, what he has just done, or whom he has just spoken with. The investigation he is conducting is, in a structural sense, one that he must restart constantly, from scratch, without knowing how many times he has already restarted it. Read more…
