Hablan las aves is scheduled for release on August 19, 2026. Produced by Ay!Futuro, the Spanish-language documentary is set in the Gran Chaco, a region whose dry forests have been severely diminished by centuries of colonization and ongoing mechanized exploitation. The film centers on the Wichí people as they contend with the pressures of that history, while the birds of their territory sing with unusual intensity. The filmmakers combine fantastical satire and ethnographic experiment to give voice to those sounds and the world they inhabit.
