Downriver a tiger

Downriver a Tiger, also known by its original title Río abajo, un tigre, releases on 6 May 2025. The film centres on Júlia, who left Barcelona for Glasgow seeking a fresh start. Years later, she divides her days between pursuing photography and washing dishes in a restaurant — a life caught between aspiration and stasis. When a problem with one of her eyes begins to worsen, it sets off a reckoning with memory and place. Júlia's search carries her into the depths of Glasgow and its history, guided by the city's river. That investigation leads back to a formative encounter: a group of men retrieving objects from the water, and among them Shubham, a young man from India who arrived in Glasgow, as she did, looking for a new life.
