Cotton Queen

Cotton Queen (ملكة القطن) is a drama scheduled for theatrical release on April 23, 2026. The film is set in a cotton-farming village in Sudan, where teenager Nafisa has grown up on her grandmother Al-Sit's accounts of resistance against British colonizers. Al-Sit is the village matriarch, and her stories form the backbone of the community's identity. The arrival of a young businessman from abroad, carrying a development plan centered on genetically engineered cotton, places Nafisa at the intersection of competing claims over the village's land and future. The narrative follows her movement from witness to active participant in that conflict.
