Language of The Diaspora

Language of The Diaspora (original title: Gjuha e Diaspores) is scheduled for release on August 10, 2026. The film occupies the space between documentary and experimental cinema, following five friends as they navigate their connection to the Albanian language while living in Switzerland. Moving through places of remembrance, the group examines how identity is constructed and how language survives — or is suppressed — under the pressures of migration and historical oppression. The Albanian-language film treats the diaspora experience as both a personal and cultural inquiry, tracing what becomes of a language when its speakers are displaced.
