Chica Checa

Chica Checa is scheduled for release on July 4, 2026. The Czech-language film centers on Zdena, a woman in her mid-fifties living in a rural village near the Czech-Slovakian border. Her routine is interrupted when her son, Lukáš, returns home, ostensibly successful after time spent on the Canary Islands. The catalyst for his return is a request from Zdena's elderly mother, Věra, who wishes to receive a visit from Czech pop singer Helena Vondráčková before she dies. The sequence of events that follows brings Lukáš's secret life as a drag queen into the open, placing pressure on family relationships and confronting the social expectations of their rural community.
