Antigone, or the Story of Sara Benoliel

Antigone, or the Story of Sara Benoliel (original title: Antígona ou a História de Sara Benoliel) is a Portuguese-language drama that released on May 6, 2025. The film uses the framework of Sophocles' Antigone — specifically the line "A State for one man is no State at all" — to tell the story of Sara, a young woman who has lost her brother to Covid-19 and seeks to honor him through a traditional burial rooted in Cape Verdean culture.
