Grand Theft Auto VI is 24 days from its November 19 release, and the picture is clearer than it was when we first listed it among this season's big games. Rockstar still lists the date, and nothing official has pointed to another delay.
This is a status report, not a prediction. Where we rely on a secondary source, we say so.
What Is Confirmed
- Date and platforms: November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar delayed it from May 26 earlier this year, as Engadget reported.
- No PC date. Rockstar has not announced one.
- Pre-orders: they opened on June 25, on digital storefronts and select retailers, per Rockstar's post as quoted by JoBlo.
- Preloading: a roundup that was updated on October 25 by Shattered says Rockstar's support documentation sets digital preloading to begin November 12, a week before launch. We could not open Rockstar's page directly, so confirm it on your console store.
- Launch trailer: several outlets report that Rockstar released a roughly 90-second launch trailer without warning on October 15. Outlets disagree on whether to call it the third trailer, because Rockstar had already released an extended look in August. We could not open those articles in full, so we are not describing what it shows.
The Price
Rockstar did not give a price in the June announcement we could read. Other outlets later reported $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for a higher tier, which we could not confirm on Rockstar's own page, and one Australian outlet reported higher local figures. The Date to Watch: November 9
Take-Two reports fiscal second-quarter results on Monday, November 9, ten days before launch, per Shattered. It is the next scheduled moment when the company talks about the date.
Nothing official signals another slip, and Take-Two has reaffirmed November 19. A rumor in August, attributed to a former Rockstar developer and reported by Metro, said the game could slide into 2027. Treat it as a rumor.
Several other games moved out of the same window recently: Fable to February 23, 2027, Squadron 42 to the second quarter of 2027 and Danganronpa 2×2 to January 14, 2027. Only the Squadron 42 delay has an on-record mention of the competitor, in a letter from its chairman. For the others, the link to GTA VI is the media's inference. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23, ahead of it.
Where It Stands on Our Tracker
Grand Theft Auto VI ranks 39th on Incoming's hype ranking as of October 26, down from 29th when we wrote our pre-Christmas guide on October 21. A rank is relative: it moves when other titles surge, so a lower position is not by itself a sign of less interest in the game.
Editorial Take: Three weeks out, the useful list is short. The date is still Rockstar's own, the preload is reported for November 12, and the next scheduled checkpoint is Take-Two's earnings call on November 9. Until one of those moves, the sensible approach is to treat November 19 as the plan without treating it as guaranteed, the same advice we gave in our guide to the biggest games before Christmas. Do not pre-pay for anything that depends on PC, a particular price or a bonus until you have seen it on the official store page for your platform.
