Baby Gun
Baby Gun is a documentary and fiction hybrid short film. The film is set during the annual holiday of Karabash in Prizren, Kosovo. The tradition celebrates the begging of summer and is discussed due to its pagan origins. Imitation rifles and guns are often bought for young boys during the celebration. The film simulates the atmosphere of a battlefield among various groups. The children engage in combat while playing in the city park. Their actions and attention is isolated from the faraway lives and problems of contemporary adulthood surrounding them. The film explores collective memory, generational trauma, and masculinity in societies shaped by recent violence, conflict, and war.
