Sudesha

Sudesha is scheduled for theatrical release on July 25, 2026. The film is in Hindi and centers on a woman living in a lower Himalayan village where communities rely on surrounding forests for firewood, food, and water. When powerful timber traders destroy those forests, the livelihoods of the local people are fundamentally disrupted. The story draws on the historical Chipko Movement, in which women of the region played an active role in protesting deforestation. The film's protagonist, Sudesha, participates in that protest and is subsequently imprisoned for her resistance.
