Satuko

Satuko opens in theaters on August 13, 2026. The documentary centers on Porfirio Quispe Huillca and his personal investigation into the legacy of his grandfather, Saturnino Huillca — known as Satuko — a Quechua-speaking peasant leader from the Andes. Over decades, Saturnino Huillca organized and advocated for land rights and the dignity of Andean communities during a period marked by the hacienda system, exploitation, and widespread abuses against indigenous peoples. The film frames this historical and political struggle through the lens of familial memory, with a grandson retracing the life and significance of a figure who shaped agrarian resistance in the region.
