Jimmy Somerville: Queer Rebel of British Pop (original French title: Jimmy Somerville, rebelle queer de la pop anglaise) is a documentary released on 7 May 2025. The film chronicles the life and career of Jimmy Somerville, the British singer whose falsetto voice became associated with 1980s new wave and synth-pop through his work with Bronski Beat, The Communards, and as a solo artist. The documentary draws on accounts from people who have worked alongside Somerville over four decades, placing his music within the broader contexts of working-class Glasgow, the experience of growing up gay in Britain during a hostile era, and the AIDS crisis. It examines how those circumstances shaped his songwriting and public persona.
