Jimmy

Jimmy is a historical drama set for release on July 31, 2026. The film centers on James Baldwin's departure from New York in November 1948, made possible by a fellowship grant, and his subsequent years in Paris. Baldwin was 24 at the time of his arrival. He would spend most of the following decade in France, living among the city's Algerian communities and the congregation of artists in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, while writing his first books. The period depicted was one in which Baldwin was escaping both American racism and his own sense of social alienation.
